St.Ives Tackle - Fishing for Carp at Somersham Lake

The Christmas Holiday period has been very productive for St.Ives Tackle Team Members, especially now all the flood water has finally resided. Ivan Woodrow managed to sneak down to his local Somersham Angling Club water in between the Christmas festivities, catching some lovely Mirror Carp into double figures. Pre baiting the margins with Maize working perfectly with a legered Boilie set up over the top.

Mark Hampson also managed to get in on the action at Somersham Angling Club catching a pretty Linear Carp just under 19lb. A Sticky Baits Manilla Pop Up- Boilie fished over a handful of free offerings was all that was needed.

James Chalkley once again ventured a little further out to a Norfolk Fen drain at first light and was duly rewarded with a couple of lovely double figure Pike on float fished Bluey dead baits. Shop owners Mickey and Mike Bartlett got themselves out on New Year’s Day for their first Pike Fishing trip of the year and a successful one at that. A lunchtime feeding spell produced a double figure Pike each making the early start worthwhile.
