Bought as a rod rest for use on platforms

I don’t like fishing off platforms but occasionally there’s no choice and my ‘normal’ rod rests are no good. I bought the tripod to use as a simple single rod rest. As a tripod it’s fine. Sturdy and adjustable. But it’s clearly designed to take pod attachments and I couldn’t, therefore, simply screw in a standard 3/8” BSF rod rest top into the ½ inch fitting. My mistake for not paying attention to the detailed specs. I improvised with a bit of ½ inch heavy duty automative tubing that fitted the tripod and I was then able to screw the rod rest top into the inside of the tubing. So everything is now fine but if you want to use it with a standard 3/8” BSF fitting take note.
